Can I say ......underwhelmed....sigh. |
Lead | ||
|
It wasn't terrible but I was seriously underwhelmed...first of all, why would I, as a Tea fan, want my girl with that arrogant asshole?...it just
doesn't make sense...it doesn't help that one can't help but compare it with the RH/FL chemistry and TSJ/FL just don't have it the way RH/FL
did. And RH's Todd always seemed as Tea put it "damaged"...under all the jerky come backs you knew he hated himself...TSJ's Todd just seems
like a jerk with none of the underlying issues. And yet I've seen on a few boards the people who are new viewers and didn't see old TNT thought they
were hot. I just hope tomorrow is better, but honestly as long as they write Todd as seeming to think himself God's gift and Tea actually falling under
his spell and being turned on by his yelling and belittling, then I'm befuddled as to how it will be better. We shall see tho...JMO...I'm glad some
people on SOC seemed to like it, but it just isn't the same...sigh.

The last scene was hot for sure.... | #2

But I could have done without the "beg me, get on your knees and beg me" line from Todd. I cringed when I heard that. Tea should have knocked him on
his ass for that. I thought it was a great way to end the show. Tomorrow should be interesting. It's strange because it's like seeing Tea with a new
guy only they have all this history. My one hope is that Tea does not get lost in all this. I still say they are going with a pregnancy storyline. So we shall
see.

That last scene was hot, although like you said, like watching Téa with some new guy. I was bothered by that same line but then again, I think it was supposed
to do just that. To me, it was meant to horrify Téa so that she would react and stay engaged. I guess that's the one thing that was true to the
characters and the past relationship- they always knew how to go for the jugular and hit below the belt to get a reaction. Not so different today, IMO. Todd
knew she was going to walk out, knew he had one last shot to keep her around and he went for it.
As for pregnancy storyline, I don't know. I do think that this is awfully rushed but that could be simply due to the unknown with FL, whether or not she'd be sticking around. We'll known soon enough, I'm sure! |

OK, I don't post here often but I can't keep quiet on this one.
I was totally floored by the "beg me" demands by Todd. Not so much because he dared to say it but because of the lack of dialogue given to Tea to counter-attack. Tea is a kick ass trial attorney for pete's sake. That means she is quick, witty and must think well on her feet. Furthermore, that girl's words can cut. I've seen it. What happened here? I know she was supposed to have been upset at what he was saying but, really? That was it after Todd completely disrespected her like that? RC needs to stop listening to the TnB'ers. Tea is a forgiving character but there is a difference between forgiving and complacent. I know I may be in the minority here but I don't mind TSJ/FL's chem. Is it RH/FL chem? Hell to the naw. However, it is OK. It is better than the other options for FL and TSJ currently on the show, IMHO. That being said, the scenes were very, very awkward in spots and I may have to agree with the poster upthread that it may have had to do with some of the blocking. I get what the directors were trying to go for but apparently they were a little over-ambitious. I don't know. But overall, I thought there were aspects that were really hot. As for tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised if we got scenes after the fact. I learned my lesson from SISP. Anyway, thanks for letting me stop by to vent. |

Again, I haven't seen it yet, but with spoilers saying Tea basically slams Todd in the door post sex and refuses to help him still, I'm guessing
that's why they didn't give her a lot of strike back dialogue today.
She'll do her striking back tomorrow. |

As for tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised if we got scenes after the fact. I learned my lesson from SISP.Envy, just curious as to what you mean here? The lesson learned, that we can be greatly disappointed in what TIIC have planned for Tea. Sigh. I'm looking forward to watching - Nic, I think you described the TnT tension well, that they knew what to say to get at each other and the "beg me" thing sounds like it. I do say, I bet these lines would have come across differently with RH. He would have made the "beg me" scenes very cool and scary and provocative. TSJ just lacks that edge that RH brought. Oh well. |

IA with Envy that while FL/TSJ don't have the same level of chemistry that RH/FL did, today wasn't as underwhelming as I first thought. I don't
know what I was expecting, but on rewatching I caught a lot of Todd's little smiles, as in he was really enjoying knowing what Tea buttons to push to get a
reaction. As I recall, way back when in 97/98 I used to appreciate their little games of one upmanship on each other and the pushing of buttons. On 2nd
viewing even the disgusting demeaning remarks came across as a ploy or a game of some type in order to elicit an angry reaction out of Tea. If they hadn't
thrown in the line about getting on her knees and begging, I probably would have been alright with the whole thing. The last scene where there was the heavy
close breathing was pretty hot and at first I thought Tea was going to jump him when he backed away, but she looked like she was taking charge when she grabbed
him and pushed him in the house.
The one saving grace is that according to spoilers, Tea is going to pull the rug out from under Todd, so in the end, she ends up using him rather than the other way around. I am kind of hoping they don't just move to the morning after scene but we shall see. In any case, yeah, on 2nd viewing, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought....

Cabbie, I totally agree with you. | #9

I think just the way RH would have said the exact same lines would have made a huge difference, but again, I rewatched and it wasn't nearly as bad as I
first thought on my first viewing. On 2nd viewing there was more of a "game" going on, even with the "begging, on your knees" lines...it
almost looks like Todd was trying not to laugh while he was saying those things, like he knew how offensive and outrageous they were and he was trying hard to
provoke a big reaction...I am looking forward to your seeing the scenes and hearing your opinion.

That is basically what I meant. I am going to be honest and hope I don't rub anyone the wrong way but I had hoped that we could have gotten a little
something more regarding the love scene during the SISP s/l. It isn't that I am big on love scenes. In fact, the opposite. I usually find them corny and
awkward, but after waiting so many years for TnT to get on the same page with that issue, I had hoped for a little something, lol. However, we didn't get
it. Which was OK. I am cool.
I was just applying this lesson to the current situation. At the end of the scene, we have Tea pushing Todd into the house. No kiss, nothing. I was just saying that I am preparing to not see anything and for the cameras to pick up during the "afterglow" or whatever. Hope I'm wrong but that is what I am prepared to see. (Again, hope that doesn't cut anyone the wrong way. It is not my intent.) I am seeing a lot of people on the boards who are focusing on what Todd said to her. I get it, I do. However, I think they are a little misguided. Like others have already posted, I think they need to focus on WHY he said what he did. That was a chess move made by Todd. While awful, it wasn't said because it is what Todd believed. It was said because it could get Tea angry enough to forget that she was leaving in the first place. That was Todd's goal. I've seen him do that with a lot of people to different degrees. Really good point about Tea "pulling the rug out from under Todd". That could be why she wasn't given a lot of counter dialogue. I guess she will be doing the talking with her actions, lol.

No swooning here... | #11

I felt very detached watching it...for me, TSJ is not Todd. I really think that if RH was there with FL, I
would've been a puddle infront of my tv! I think RH would've played this entirely different. I totally agree Cabbie, his "beg me"
would've been scary & provocative. I would have loved to have seen that....

Okay finally saw it.... | #13
|
The last scene was kinda hot, I'll admit it.
I think because I read spoilers and know that Tea's not gonna give in to him after sex is why I'm okay with how the dialogue went today. Interesting line about Todd knowing about the string of losers Tea dated after they broke up...has he been checking up on her? |

Conversation with Vicki | #14
|
If you go back and watch the dialogue from last week with Vicki and Tea, it puts most of the dialogue from today into perspective (i.e. "the manipulative
narcissist"), a perfect set up for their verbal exchange and what I think is coming tomorrow. It seems as though they will be dropping a bit of history
through the plot in the coming weeks, esp. after Todd's remark about the string of losers today. Today kinda harkened back to the days of their first
marriage, esp. the night of the blizzard, but with a different ending. I think Tea's turn for a rebuttal will come tomorrow but most likely in actions, not
words. There is no doubt that today would have been better with RH though...

I just feel dirty. | #15 | ||
|
And my only hope is that Tea will too and will find the strength to save herself...but of course she won't. She'll end up with dirty, stinkin' Podd
taint all over her. Literally.
It may not seem like it, but I really have tried to get into TSJ as Todd. But I just can't do it. I finally figured out what it is that I just hate
about him. You can see him thinking about it. Not all the time, but whenever "Todd" has to be edgy at all, it's like you can just see him
thinking about what he's going to do--not just doing it, but thinking about it. Not really listening to the other actors, more like waiting for them to
finish their lines so he can do what he's been thinking about while they were talking. It's like, instead of being part of the scene, he's just
constantly waiting for his cue. "And now from stage left, Todd!" It just never feels natural with him. I dunno. I just don't see the chem between TSJ and Flo either. They're both pretty. She's pretty. He's pretty (vacant). And I've heard so much about how TSJ really brings it for the love scenes, so perhaps I'll see it if we actually do get to see them inflagrante. But for the most part I just can't imagine that these two people have the history they are supposed to have. Quite frankly. I cannot imagine that this guy came back to Llanview with a new face and said he was Todd and anyone who ever knew Todd actually believed him. Other than the fact that I am told daily that that's who I am supposed to believe this is, I just don't buy it. Also, was he going to kiss her or just breathe on her? It was hard to tell. |

RH/Real Todd would have rocked. | #16

Again, I'm just not that into TSJ. It's a different character - end of story. That aside, I thought FL was awesome. I loved, LOVED the scene where she
pulls him into the house and slams the door shut. Her little body totally put muscle into the slam. She looked so cute!
It was very clear that Podd was just trying to get under her skin, to get her really angry at him, perhaps to do exactly what she did. I kind of laughed at the scene where it suddenly turned sexual in that it was very fanfiction-ish. I thought this is what a lot of TnTers were writing way back when, to make up for Todd's rejecting her sexually. Ok, *I* wrote that kind of stuff where he just gets near her and they both get all hot and bothered no matter how much they're hating each other. Clearly, THIS TnT have an intense sexual past that we were never entitled to see! Which is good, but then...makes me a wee bit bitter. LOL Damn RH. Still say, had RH said the begging thing...it would have been hot. TSJ saying it, just...was silly. I can't say exactly what was missing. Why it struck me as flat or overly "angry" or whether the formal Shakespearian language at the end was what made it weird. I would have slapped him too! I'd have liked something a little more subtle, a little more growly, and more contained rage. Oh well...I hope to see some of their romp, I'll be annoyed if it's all afterglow. Bottom line...FL rocked. |

Sometimes he's good... | #18

I really liked the Schuyler scene - when Podd pushed him into the door, it was very sudden and unexpected and totally worked. That was very Toddish.
Yesterday...not so much. You're right - it's not natural. TSJ is just not "that guy." And I hate to say this, but it does have something to
do with the physical build of TSJ. He just strikes me as too petite to be that bad-ass guy he's supposed to be. While RH is not a big guy either, something
about the way they dressed him and the way he carried himself made him appear far more looming as a character. He always struck me as very tall and muscular
and if pushed, he could kill you. TSJ just doesn't come across like that at all.
Poor Trevor - I do like him! I don't mean to bash the guy. He's pretty and has good moments. I like his grin and sarcastic sense of humor. He's had some great quick lines that are very funny. One of my favorite moments was when Tea took off her coat on New Year's Eve and he said, "Delgado!" It was SO cute and totally spontaneous and real. I loved that. It was TSJ's own take and I liked it. |
